PMP Practice Questions (Free Sample)

Free practice sample

Fifteen original PMP practice questions, unlocked with no signup and instant scoring. The sample draws proportionally across all three domains of the Exam Content Outline in force since July 9, 2026 — People, Process, and Business Environment — so the mix you see here reflects the shape of the current exam rather than a single topic slice, and roughly 60% of the items sit in agile or hybrid contexts, as the real exam does.

The PMP is not a vocabulary test. Almost every hard question is a scenario — a stakeholder has gone quiet, a sprint is overcommitted, a regulation just changed — and four responses that a competent project manager might defend. Passing means recognising what an effective project leader does first, or best: who owns the decision, what the delivery approach implies, and what the business outcome actually requires. These questions are written to that standard, and every explanation names the winning answer and the near-miss it beats, so a review pass teaches the judgment PMI rewards rather than a letter to memorise.

Outline changed. PMI’s updated Exam Content Outline took effect July 9, 2026. Business Environment jumped from 8% to 26% of your score, agile and hybrid content moved to roughly 60% of the exam, 35 tasks were consolidated into 26, and AI in project management, sustainability, and value delivery became formally testable. Material written for the old outline leaves you underprepared exactly where the exam grew — this sample and the domain weights below are written to the 2026 ECO.

Frequently asked questions about PMP

How many questions are on the actual PMP exam?

180 questions, of which 170 are scored, in a 240-minute window with two 10-minute breaks. The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE. Pacing is the thing most candidates underestimate: at 180 items in 240 minutes you have well under 80 seconds per question on average, and PMP scenarios are long. Confirm current logistics on pmi.org when you book, since PMI sets the format and may change it.

What score do I need to pass PMP?

There isn’t a published percentage. PMI scores the live exam on domain-level proficiency rather than a raw or scaled numeric cut score, so there is no “you need 61%” figure to aim at — you get a proficiency picture per domain instead. Because that gives you nothing concrete to train against, Certifym sets the practice pass mark at 70% as a readiness target. Clear it consistently and you have built the decision-making the real exam tests; treat it as a floor rather than a finish line.

Which domains should I spend the most time on?

Process is the largest at 41% and carries the exam’s calculation content — SPI, CPI, EAC, float, PERT — alongside method-selection judgment, so it justifies the single biggest block of study time. People is 33%. Business Environment is nominally the lightest at 26%, but it is the domain that changed: it more than tripled in the July 2026 outline, and candidates who study it like the old 8% afterthought fail there. Governance and compliance, benefits realisation, organisational change, sustainability and responsible use of AI now carry roughly a quarter of your score.

What changed in the July 9, 2026 Exam Content Outline?

Four things worth planning around. Business Environment went from 8% to 26% of the exam. Agile and hybrid content rose to roughly 60% of questions, so predictive-only preparation is no longer sufficient. The task list was consolidated from 35 tasks into 26. And AI in project management, sustainability, and value delivery became formally testable content areas rather than background context. If your study material predates July 9, 2026, it is thin in exactly the places the exam grew.

Am I eligible to sit the PMP exam?

There are two routes. With a four-year degree you need 36 months of experience leading projects; with a high school diploma or an associate degree you need 60 months. Both routes also require 35 hours of project management education, or an active CAPM certification in place of it. PMI sets and audits these requirements — check the current criteria on pmi.org before you pay for an application.

How much of the exam is agile rather than predictive?

Roughly 60% of questions are set in agile or hybrid contexts under the 2026 outline, and that distribution cuts across all three domains rather than sitting in an agile section of its own. A Process question can just as easily be about backlog management as about critical path. If your background is entirely predictive delivery, that ratio — not any single topic — is usually the gap worth closing first, and this sample mirrors the same proportion so you can find out early.

How is this free sample different from the full Certifym bank?

The sample is a fixed 15-question set spread across the three domains at blueprint proportions, with no account needed. The full Certifym bank is 1800 original PMP questions, and each practice exam is a full-length 180-question simulation weighted exactly to the 2026 outline — 33% People, 41% Process, 26% Business Environment — with roughly 60% of questions set in agile or hybrid contexts and the full 240-minute timer. None of the paid-bank items appear in this sample.
